This project explores the hand-painted shop signs of South Asia and Africa, Bold, imperfect, and full of character. Growing up in Delhi, I was surrounded by their vibrant colours and uneven letterforms, a visual language shaped by labour, place, and identity. “Homescapes: A Visual Journey” is a project I created during my third year of my Graphic Communication Design course at Central Saint Martins @csmgraphics , It aims to represent the rich tapestry of New Delhi’s diverse neighbourhoods through the lens of doors, symbolising the various pathways that lead to the concept of ‘home.’ The consistent theme of colours and the ubiquitous presence of doors create a cohesive narrative that celebrates the cultural, emotional, and architectural aspects of ‘home’ in the vibrant city of New Delhi.
This project is dedicated to unraveling the diverse and nuanced tapestry of the concept of ‘home.’ My core values center on inclusivity, authenticity, and the celebration of diverse narratives. Through a thematic exploration of personal and collective experiences, I aim to illuminate the multifaceted nature of ‘home,’ transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.
